Template:Generative AI editnotice/doc

This is an editnotice template for use on articles or talk pages about generative artificial intelligence, in order to deter users from mistakenly entering prompts on the page.

Note: You must be an administrator, page mover, or template editor in order to create and edit an editnotice.

Usage

All parameters are optional. The template automatically detects the article whose talk page the editnotice belongs to. The URL is pulled from Wikidata, via property P856.

To bypass the URL listed at Wikidata, use |url= followed by the custom URL. Additional parameters are detailed in the next section.

Customization

If the article is not of any particular software but a broad topic, appending |generic=yes will generate the following heading and omit mention of the URL:

This is a Wikipedia article/talk page. It is not a chatbot. It will not respond to questions.

If the article subject is not publicly available, appending |public=no will generate the following wording in place of the standard URL description:

Learn more at [URL].

If the template detects that you are on the mobile site, it will display a shortened version of the explanatory text, with the portion from If you would like ... to at Wikipedia:Questions removed.
