Apparently, Thomas Jefferson selected only about 16-18 apple varieties to grow at Monticello. According to Peter J. Hatch, the Director of Gardens & Grounds at the Monticello museum, this is unusual.

To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:
