Three types of cell reproduction
Three types of cell reproduction; Binary fission and reproduction involving mitosis or meiosis.

In the context of reproduction of living cells, "cell growth" refers to the "growth in cell numbers by means of cell reproduction." During cell reproduction one cell (the "parental" cell) divides to produce daughter cells. In other contexts, "cell growth" refers to increases in cell size.Photo credit: John Schmidt
