Template:TyphoonWarningsTable/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is used to generate a table of tropical cyclone warnings and watches for tropical cyclones in the Northwestern Pacific basin.

Usage[edit]

The template without any parameters will produce a result like the following:

Preview
No tropical cyclone watches or warnings posted at this time.

{{TyphoonWarningsTable}}

Locality-based warnings[edit]

China[edit]

In most cases, warnings are taken from the China Meteorological Administration Warnings page.

When there are Chinese tropical cyclone warnings active, use the following syntax:

Preview
China (as of 22:00 UTC (06:00 CST))

Hong Kong[edit]

In most cases, warnings are taken from the Hong Kong Observatory Tropical Cyclone Warning page.

When there are Hong Kong tropical cyclone warning signals active, use the following syntax:

For historical (signals are old) or prevailing (wind speeds are currently affecting the area), use PHhistorical and PHactive, respectively. In identifying if winds are currently prevailing, access the Tropical Cyclone Bulletin PDF and visit the "Hazards affecting land areas" section. If there are comments indicating that the system is unlikely or not currently affecting the country's weather condition, signals are currently not prevailing.

Technical[edit]

You can also use the align parameter to determine how the table floats. You can also use the clear parameter to automatically include a {{clear}} template at the bottom of the warnings table.

Error cases[edit]

Improperly using the template may lead to error cases. This section contains examples of error cases when using this template.

(CMA) China Meteorological Administration[edit]

If an invalid signal was provided for CNsignal, the table will look like the following:

Preview

Template data[edit]

A table that enumerates raised typhoon warnings by agencies in the Northwest pacific basin.

Template parameters

This template prefers block formatting of parameters.

ParameterDescriptionTypeStatus

Determines the float position of the table, which can either float on the left or right.

Default
left
Example
left
Stringoptional
Widthwidth

The width of the table.

Stringoptional
Float?float

Setting this option to truthy value will cause the table to become a floating element. To change the position of the floating table, use the `align` parameter.

Booleanoptional
Clear?clear

Setting this option with any truthy value will cause the bottom of the page to include a {{clear}}, which makes the remaining page content go under the table.

Booleanoptional
Time warnings issued (CN)CNtime

The time at which the warnings were issued by the responsible agency.

Example
0:00 UTC (08:00 PWT)
Contentoptional
CMA Signal LevelCNsignal
