Change table[edit]

I had previously changed the table in this edit, though it was soon reverted by SuperJew due to the new table removing the highlighting feature. I think the Template:Fb cl team table would better suit the A-League season due to the ever changing AFC Champions League qualification positions given to A-league teams. The current table does not allow adjustments to be made to the table, without adjusting the whole template. I also don't think the highlighting feature is necessary; there is no league that uses this on Wikipedia.--2nyte (talk) 02:19, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

so you change in the template once, instead of changing the background color every time there is an update of positions. Also, the highlight feature is very useful for the team season pages, to see which position their team is. Other leagues don't have it probably because they have more teams than the A-League, and therefore on team pages usually include only their team's position and team above & below, as opposed to the full ladder. --SuperJew (talk) 06:30, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If AFC gives 3 top placed A-League clubs Champions League spots (rather than the current 2) then we would have to change the template and it would affect all other A-League season tables. That is the reason the current template is poor. Also, Major League Soccer club season articles use the full table with no highlighting feature and the MLS has 19 clubs; I don't think it's that vital to season articles (probably not at all), you just have to read the table.--2nyte (talk) 08:03, 13 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Now there is the FFA Cup occurring, the winner will get one of the (currently) 3 spots in the 2015 ACL competition. whether it is 1/2 spot or full spot is not known, and subject to AFC confirming allocations. But is it currently misleading to assume that more than just the Premiers will get an ACL Berth. Can you please change the template format to just give the Premiers the link to ACL 2015 group stage ?
