Helen

[edit]

Uh, I know this sounds counterintuitive since she's called "Helen of Troy," but Helen was actually "Greek," or rather Spartan — the whole point is that she was a Greek woman kidnapped or seduced by a Trojan man and taken to Troy, causing the Greek forces to come after her. Epeius

[edit]

And Epeius, he built the horse. Definitely not a Trojan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.13.165.68 (talk) 02:22, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iliad vs. Trojan War

[edit]

Is this Template based strictly on Homer's Iliad? If yes, then certain participants should not be included, such as Palamedes, who was never mentioned by Homer. --Odysses () 00:36, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this template should contain only characters that appear in the Iliad itself, not later additions/commentaries. Moreover, I think this list should only contain characters that actually 'do' something in the Iliad, besides getting killed or being mentioned once in the catalog of ships (otherwise, the list is very partial). I would not do it by myself, but if other editors agree on this line, I would want to cooperate with someone to improve that list. Lophostrix (talk) 21:13, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Neoptolemus was in the Iliad?

[edit]

I read The Iliad about nine years ago and don't recall Neoptolomus' name even being mentioned in the book. I don't recall even knowing that Achilles had a son until I read further into Greek mythology.

That being said, am I completely wrong here? If not, then Neoptolomus' name should be removed from this template. Darwin's Bulldog (talk) 01:43, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
