"Flagicon" and Commonwealth Games pre-2010

[edit]

Could someone please create a "flagicon" template for the 1964-2010 Malawi flag? I think the editors of the Commonwealth Games pages would appreciate having the flag flown at all the pre-2010 Games restored to be true to the historical record. Thanks. -- Jwkozak91 (talk) 22:59, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{editprotected}}

I inserted the editprotected tag for this section. This template needs to be adjusted so it becomes capable of showing the former flag as well, by analogy with many of the rest of the country data templates, for example Template:Country data Italy, Template:Country data Iraq, or Template:Country data Ethiopia. --Theurgist (talk) 19:00, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Alias is 1964. {{flag|Malawi|1964}}:  Malawi

Many thanks to Theurgist and Rambo's Revenge! I'm sure all the editors of the Commonwealth Games pages will appreciate your efforts. -- Jwkozak91 (talk) 21:39, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Variant?

[edit]

The 2010 variant needs to be added. Both link to the same flag now since the old design has been re-adpoted. Shadow2 (talk) 08:53, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Correct, since the country re-adopted the independence flag, the "1964" alias needs to be abolished, and a "2010" alias yielding this variant needs to be added. I'm activating {{editprotected}}. --Theurgist (talk) 11:33, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2010 plus Added, not sure about removing 1964 because some articles may be using it? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:11, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flag varient

[edit]

The flag variant should now be 2010, the fact that the 1964 is being used again. –Spesh531, My talk, and External links 23:53, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Army

[edit]

Is itg possible that the "army" template could be set up? Something similar to what is on the Template_talk:Country_data_South_Africa  South African Army. I am hoping to use it on the United Nations Force Intervention Brigade page. Thanks. BoonDock (talk) 23:20, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed the army link ( Malawi Army) and created a redirect from Malawi Army so the default link would work too. SiBr4 (talk) 15:21, 6 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1964 variant needs restoring

[edit]

@SiBr4 (or any other watching admins), sorry to bug you, but there are several pages (e.g. this one) still using "1964" as a flag variant, having not been changed over when the 1964 flag was re-instated after a two-year break. I would've thought the template would just default to the current flag if an invalid parameter was entered, but I guess not. Not sure how many pages that applies to, so restoring the 1964 alias might be the easiest thing to do. Cheers, IgnorantArmies (talk) 14:27, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I thought so too, though apparently the core template for sports flag templates, {{Flaglink/core}}, does not do that. It should be fixed with the code currently at {{Flaglink/core/sandbox}} (code comparison):
{{cr|Malawi|1964}}[[File:{{{flag alias-1964}}}|23x15px|border |alt=|link=]] Malawi
{{cr/sandbox|Malawi|1964}} Malawi
Since {{Flaglink/core}} is fully protected, I added an edit-request template to request the fix (I'm only a TE). SiBr4 (talk) 14:52, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@SiBr4: I've lowered the protection to template-protection, so you should be able to edit it now. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 00:38, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not done: The page's protection level and/or your user rights have changed since this request was placed. You should now be able to edit the page yourself. If you still seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. Mlpearc (open channel) 00:49, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
