This template is being placed by a bot, and the bot's page says that we can remove the tag, yet the template says an administrator must do this. What's the real story? McKay 13:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The bot in question is now using a different tag, so the issue is mostly moot, but I'm still curious. McKay 19:24, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To make things as easy as possible for editors (please remember that they're not getting paid to do this, and whipping them into submission could be dangerous), I suggest that a prominent link to WP:FURG be added to the template. Esn 19:15, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that was my problem with understanding initially. McKay 19:24, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The WP:NONFREE page which the template links to is far too CREEPY and overbureacratic, so I've added a link to WP:FURG which provides quick advice to people who're new to this. Esn 19:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, damn, I didn't realize that the bot has moved on to using another template - and an even more CREEPY one at that. I guess I'll have to go over there. It seems to be using a few different ones now, some of which are better than others. Esn 19:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

Shouldn't we be warning uploaders when we add this to one of their uploaded articles?

yes, look at the template: Notify the uploader with: {{subst:di-disputed fair use rationale-notice|1=Dfu}} ~~~~ AzaToth 12:51, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What I thought but I went to delete some expired ones I didn't find the uploader had been notified. JodyB talk 14:16, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's more of a user issue. Though in WP:TW I've made so it will automatically notify the uploader (or to be more precisly, the author of the first revision, which I think would be the same). But for people using the templates manually, it's up to them to notify or not. AzaToth 14:20, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
