  • Length, source, and date are good, but the hook could be more interesting. You could mention that saltcedar and peppergrass are competitive invasive species, or mention other threats like urban development, to make it more interesting. How about one of these alts:
ALT 1: ... that Ute lady's tresses (pictured) are threatened by invasive species like saltcedar and peppergrass?
ALT 2: ... that Ute lady's tresses (pictured) are threatened by invasive species, urban development, and even river restoration activities?
