BorgQueen, i had mentioned that von gerkan was the original architect to provide readers an anchor to understand the nature of the court case, rather than have people possibly think that von gerkan was a local crazy person who sued on a whim and happened to win. (it's actually an unusual copyright case, and was even mentioned in a u.s. casebook on art law.) i was aware that the hook was getting lengthy, but tried to get all the necessary details within the 200-character limit.
i was unable to simply state "the architect Meinhard von Gerkan" because deutsche bahn hired another architectural firm for the revised design, so von gerkan wouldn't be considered "the architect" in the case. in retrospect, though, i think simply stating "architect Meinhard von Gerkan" (without the "the") might also work, ignoring false title concerns, since readers hopefully would be able to guess that von gerkan was the original architect if he sued because the station was not being built according to the original plans.
do you think the hook works better without mentioning that von gerkan was an architect? dying (talk) 15:56, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll restore it. BorgQueen (talk) 15:58, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
