An unfortunate nomination. This is all just a big misunderstanding, as time will bear out. The long-running discussion on the Sandy Island (New Caledonia) Talk page gives details. Yes, this made the news, but there isn’t anything rigorous about the sources. The 1,400 m claim simply isn’t the same place. Strebe (talk) 08:17, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
