What on earth is going on here? It doesn't actually show all the states (all the Saxon Duchies and Reuss and Schwarzburg principalities are relegated to "Thuringia"), and it shows Prussian Provinces, which were not in any sense states. john k (talk) 13:38, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought I'd let you know that I intend to recreate this template as an image map using a new map image which incorporates the labels/flags. The current version is far too prone to variation across platforms (for example, none of the labels are even close to lining up on the Android client) and doesn't represent many of the smaller/geographically separated states very well. For an idea of what I intend to do, see this map of the Welsh principal areas (which I also created). This should redress your concerns as well.
