Relevance?[edit]

As there are surely many hundreds of named hybrid grape varieties, I fail to see the relevance of this template. Is it supposed to list them all? It seems like one of those cases where a category is much better. Tomas e (talk) 21:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added further varieties[edit]

Added Lakemont, Himrod and Triomphe d'Alsace - all fairly widespread, the first two as table grapes and the latter as a blending wine grape.

Overhaul of the template[edit]

I've added grape species to the template as I think a template on hybrid grapes should tie in with the different species used. Hopefully this will increase the prominence of the species without any information on here (the red links) and get people creating entries for them.

The template is quite crowded with all the varieties, but it could be slimmed down to just the main ones: vinifera, labrusca, amurensis, aestivalis, riparia, rupestris and coignetiae, but the template is collapsed by default so I personally think it is fine as it is.
