Proposed changes[edit]

I've rewritten this template in the /sandbox and made some major changes.

  • Use {{ivmbox}} instead of {{tmbox}}. The latter is most normally used for header templates rather than actual message content.
  • Make it more easily substitutable, so that |subst=subst: is no longer required.
  • Combine the two date parameters into one named |date= parameter. Will accept any recognisable date format.
  • Removed a few unused and undocumented parameters.
  • Converted unnamed parameter 7 and call it |action= instead. Will default to created or substantially updated.
  • Converted unnamed parameter 3 and called it |article= instead. We could also use the first unnamed parameter for this if people prefer, i.e.
{{ITN notice|Article|date=5 April 2016|action=substantially updated}}

Any comments please? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:20, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good. Concise and well-documented.--WaltCip (talk) 19:00, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, let's give it a go ... — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:15, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
 Done All deployed and documentation updated. In addition to the benefits described above it will also automatically add today's date so you can omit that parameter, and it will sign for you, so no need for the 4 tildes. I've included some error catching for people using the old syntax. Hopefully it will not take them long to realise. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:38, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
