Needs name parameter[edit]

This article needs a "name" parameter like {{Imdb name}} (can also just be unnamed second parameter there) (or "title" parameter like {{MacTutor}}, so that it can display the actual name at MathGenealogy, rather than the Wikipedia article's name. • There's a Template:mathgenealogy (note the capitalization) which does this, however the name field is required. Perhaps these ought to be merged? Akriasas (talk) 19:51, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Swapped to AMS link[edit]

I just changed the link on this template from NDSU to AMS. I did this as a bold change despite the protection on this template because Chrome was unwilling to show me the NDSU links (something about their HTTPS certificate) and the template is very widely used so we need it to be working. But especially because of the protection, I think this change should be discussed, and depending on the outcome of the discussion we can revert or not. My own opinion is that probably the AMS link is better in the long run, as it is supported by the major US professional society of mathematicians rather than by one specific and small mathematics department. Anyone else want to weigh in? —David Eppstein (talk) 20:07, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please find a link which uses HTTPS. If Chrome is moaning, then either the website should be fixed or Chrome should be fixed (more likely the former); it's not really our responsibility to point users elsewhere. --Izno (talk) 00:01, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've restored the NDSU link, as it was https. Perhaps its failure earlier today was only a temporary glitch. —David Eppstein (talk) 00:22, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
