Colors

[edit]

I added team colors - NYCFC is currently using navy with sky blue. Values come from the logo on their website www.nycfc.com. These may or may not change when the official club crest has been unveiled, and if they do this page should be updated to reflect. Until then, the club is consistently using these colors, on team communications, across social media, and in promotional merchandise, and the Nav box should reflect them. FYI - NYCFC is using sky blue + navy because that's what Manchester City use on their website, which you will notice nycfc.com is an identikit of. Manchester City's colours are sky blue and white, not sky blue and navy. I suspect you will find sky blue and white will be NYCFC's colours in due course.
I don't really mind what colours are used on this template in the meantime, I just wanted to point this out. Falastur2 Talk 18:49, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You could well be correct, and we'll know eventually. But unlike Man City, NYCFC has been using navy not only in the website but on their temporary crest and as the dominant color of the only merchanside they have to offer - t-shirts featuring that logo. So for the moment, at least, navy is a primary color. But we'll see eventually, and the Nav box should of course be updated whenever they unveil their final design. Official colors

[edit]

Matthew Wolff, who was the club's in-house designer in its first seasons and who contributed to the logo, posted the official hex colors on his Twitter feed - #6caddf, #00285e, and #fd4f00.[1] The club also never uses orange directly next to navy blue, so I changed the arrangement to match. Except the arrangement you just put in uses orange next to navy. Then again, so does the new home jerseys, so I think you may have stated that backwards. oknazevad (talk) 20:30, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, you are correct - I meant to say that the club never puts orange next to sky blue. The orange is always bordered by navy, as it is on the new home jerseys and on the club's badge. Thanks! SixFourThree (talk) 22:02, 22 February 2017 (UTC)SixFourThree[reply]
@SixFourThree: The URL reference for the tweet from the logo designer you linked to is no longer valid (it's possible that he deleted either the tweet or his account). Please find a new URL reference ASAP. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 02:54, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SixFourThree: So the official color codes used by New York City FC can be found here. It's an official Major League Soccer (MLS) document. Also, the logo designer's Twitter handle has now changed. His hex colors are not official, but the hex colors found at the document I have provided are. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 00:56, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. But we still shouldn't pair the orange with sky blue, since orange is the tertiary color and very seldom paired with sky blue. SixFourThree (talk) 16:21, 6 January 2020 (UTC)SixFourThree[reply]
@SixFourThree: I see nothing wrong with using orange as a tertiary border color in the template, since the club does use orange as an official color, per NYCFC.com. Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 17:37, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Colors, again

[edit]

I cleaned up the official hex colors as released by Matthew Wolff, the logo designer. And I removed all black, replacing it with navy - the club has never used black as an official team color, beyond a clash kit in 2015. SixFourThree (talk) 23:13, 20 February 2019 (UTC)SixFourThree[reply]

@SixFourThree: Two things: first, why do you insist that Matthew Wolff, the logo designer, has the official color codes used by New York City FC? Second, do you have a URL reference from the logo designer that specifies the exact color codes you insist on using? Charlesaaronthompson (talk) 02:52, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Colors, again, again

[edit]

The club revealed what they are calling a "refreshed visual identity" yesterday[2], including new official shades of the team colors. I have therefore updated these templates to match. I did not change the basic skyblue/navy/orange setup, only the specific shades per the website. SixFourThree (talk) 22:05, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
