Proposal for the reason parameter

[edit]

Most of the reasons provided by the template are valid, though there are some reasons that at the moment stay out of scope of what's currently described. One additional reason could be a different license, such as CC-BY-ND (No Derivatives), as it is with File:Smath.png, wherein both the permissiveness of the CC license on one hand, and its No Derivatives clause on the other hand would logically preclude reduction in size.

This combination in an image would render the file as not strictly non-free; yet current wording in the template would label such an image as completely non-free.

Later I'd realised, that the aforementioned file still contains Windows XP scrollbars as further visuals and elements of proprietary software, rendering somewhat moot the issue of the image being "not exactly non-free, while not free enough for Commons". After some fashion, the scrollbars could be considered de minimis, but won't have to be.

Even then, there is still no "do not reduce image size" template that would cater to such license combinations for when the image does not contain visuals and elements of proprietary software. -Mardus /talk 07:29, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
