v2 Onion address deprecation[edit]

Since v2 onion addresses are having support removed from Tor, and v3 addresses are absurdly long, what do we want to do with this template? Find some way to wrap them, truncate them, or should we just stop using it? --Tga (talk) 19:50, 6 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warp method: In any infobox, add mutiple {{wbr}} so that the length is sufficient, like this {{Onion URL|paavlaytlfsqyvkg3yqj7hflfg5jw2jdg2fgkza5ruf6lplwseeqtvyd}} 2409:8A44:7236:5D10:108F:1CC3:3B48:7909 (talk) 18:56, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't a good approach as it completely breaks down with whitelisted=yes when real link is created. When it isn't linked, using plain seems okay, but {{wbr}} inserts additional zero-width space that makes the link broken when copy-pasted which is confusing and defeats the point of having sucha a long link displayed. At some point someone added hyphens: auto style to it, but it seems unlikely that any browser could find hyphenation points in something that doesn't look like a word at all. Does it work for anyone? It certainly doesn't for me. I think word-break: break-all should be used instead. – MwGamera (talk) 21:52, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
