Mistaken name?

[edit]

@Immanuelle, calling this the "Sarutahiko Faith" seems incorrect. When I see the word "faith" used like this, it implies that you are talking about a distinct religion -- see also the "faith" entry at Wiktionary. However, reverence or worship of Sarutahiko does not constitute a wholly separate theology unto itself, and is instead simply part of Shinto.

I'd like to propose a renaming of this template, perhaps to something like "Sarutahiko in Shinto". What do you think? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 20:38, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Weird, sorry about the odd context -- I got here by trying to access Template_talk:Sarutahiko_Faith. The hard-redirect from there to Draft_talk:Immanuelle/Joyo_kanji should be removed. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 20:40, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Eirikr: sorry about that issue it seems everything I moved from my sandbox was being redirected to the one time my sandbox had a talk page. I proposed that one for deletion and it will delete all the pages linking there.
I used faith to mean Shinko ( 信仰, Faith) because I've seen it in such phrases as Goryo Shinko and Inari Shinko and Gion Shinko. I thought cult was a better translation but at categories for discussion it was rejected so I've been using Faith for everything but Gion cult. My understanding is that in a Shinto context Shinko means beliefs and practices related to a specific deity or shrine or similar, and there's no satisfactory English translation. I've used this nomenclature for several templates so I want to be sure of the right terminology and then move all of them.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙 (talk to the cutest Wikipedian) 21:13, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
