In a listing such as this, is it proper to use part of the genus name in the species name? In the example the last two items are Genus: Anatoma and Species: A. proxima. Why is the first letter of the genus included as part of the species? It seems it would be proper, more logical, and less confusing if it were Genus: Anatoma and Species: proxima. --Damficare (talk) 07:47, 11 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
