WikiProject iconThis template (like all templates) is within the scope of WikiProject Templates, a group dedicated to improving the maintenance of Wikipedia's templates. This particular template is especially important to the project because it is used in the maintenance of other templates. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the discussion and see a list of open tasks.

Purpose[edit]

When any template is nominated for deletion, it is in the Project's best interest that this receive attention from a properly fair number of concerned individual members. {{tfdnotice}} provides a consistent mechanism for such notification, including a helpful link to the correct TfD entry.

Usage[edit]

Place this notice on the Talk page of interested parties, such as nominated template creator. In the case of popular or significant nominees, it may be appropriate to give wide notice.

{{subst:tfdnotice|Nominee}} ~~~~

The parameter is the name of the nominated template. As TfD's scope does not extend beyond Template namespace, there is no need to supply that element of the name.

Substitution should be used with this template.

Discussion[edit]

This template survived TFD - see Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/Not_deleted/May_2005. Radiant_* 08:33, May 24, 2005 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to be getting much use - see Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Tfdnotice Noel (talk) 20:40, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)
This template can, and definately should be substituted using the "Subst:" parameter, so looking at the "What links here" info is useless. On the other hand, I have been putting notices on most of the Talk pages of the creators of the templates that I have nominated at TFD, but have found that a boilerplate notification doesn't work for me. Template makes bad links[edit]

Please note that this template doesn't (didn't) work correctly as advertised. If one follows the instructions at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Instructions, you get a link to, say, Wikipedia:Templates for deletion#Cleanarticle instead of the correct Wikipedia:Templates for deletion#Template:Cleanarticle. I've changed the template to do the latter. If you want to change it back, you'll have to alter the instructions to make them consistent. - dcljr (talk) 1 July 2005 05:58 (UTC)

My Misleading Edit-summ[edit]

I summarized confusedly and confusingly, bcz i lost track of the fact that i was viewing an edit from the middle, not the top, of the page's history. An accurate summary would have read

rv to pre-error version that somehow slightly differs from the mistaken editor's attempt to restore.

I'm sorry for any confusion that my sloppy investigation may have caused colleagues.

Template name[edit]

Might it be worth moving this to Template:TFDNote to match Template:AFDNote? --Rumping (talk) 17:25, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
