The chart (and the article Colonial Office, for that matter) seem to be completely wrong in claiming that the War Office was renamed the War and Colonial Office in 1801, and then split into the War Office and Colonial Office in 1854. As I understand it, the War Office existed throughout this period and was headed by the Secretary at War. The Secretary of State had nothing to do with it. My understanding was that the Secretary of State for War and the Colonies headed something called the "Colonial Office" more or less throughout that position's existence. I'm not sure what was going on during Dundas's tenure. john k (talk) 03:48, 7 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
