This looks like reduced utility in the template. Many editors get popups on mouseover of refs, so cobbling together a footnote is a distinct downgrade to the template. Is there an actual point to breaking this feature? VanIsaacWSVexcontribs 11:44, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Vanisaac. There are over 200 Unicode chart templates that use the same footnote for Unicode version, and if the footnote needs to be changed for the Kangxi Radicals template then it needs to be changed for all of the 200+ templates as well, which is the reason why a change like this should be carefully considered and discussed before implementing.
