Flag or landmass[edit]

Recently the flag was replaced by the landmass. It is completely unclear to me why. The landmass is incomplete (misses French overseas territories); is not identifying landmass clearly (as absence of Norway and Balkan republics distort coastlines, and omission of Turkey places half of Cyprus in some sort of vacuum). Nevertheless it is hard to identify as being EU (compared to whole mainland Europe). Anyway in almost all political unions of some kind, it is the organisation flag not the landmass depicted, so for consistency alone we should do that here. Finally it is also not nearly as iconic for the EU as the flag (a simple recognisable symbol).

For all these reasons I reverted back to the flag. Of course if consensus goes the other way, feel free to set the shape, I don't think it is a good idea. Arnoutf (talk) 11:23, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
