Gliders/sailplanes

[edit]

I don't know if anyone monitors this page but could someone make a template for Gliders/sailplanes or add speeds in knots and wing loading to the current aircraft specifications template, or failing that show nme how to make/edit templates? ThanksPetebutt (talk) 17:36, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Responded on users talk page. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 20:49, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TfD discussion

[edit]

There is a proposal to delete one or more sub-templates of this template at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 January 27#Template:WPAVIATION creator/Aircraft 2. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 11:47, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion opened up a whole raft of WPAVIATION creator sub-templates for questioning, with no sensible conclusion. So it was closed as Keep. I will re-open that general discussion below here. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 14:56, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unused sub-templates?

[edit]

Here is a list of all the subpages for this template:

Pages with the prefix 'WPAVIATION creator' in the 'Template' and 'Template talk' namespaces:

Going through the invocation tree from the root down, only some appear to be actually used:

This leaves the following apparently unused:

I'd suggest that we comment-out their content and see if that breaks anything. If all goes well for a while, then we can delete them. Any thoughts? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 14:59, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think Template:WPAVIATION creator/Aircraft.0/intro could just be merged into Template:WPAVIATION creator/intro, as there's not a lot different, just an additional instruction about Wikipedia:New articles (Aircraft) -- though there's also the manually added listing at Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/New articles that isn't being kept up with so could be indicated instead -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 13:10, 7 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Merging sounds a good move. I'd like to disable the .0 template content for a while first, just to make sure it is never used. Note that there is no manually added listing at Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/New articles; most are bot-driven, the only other one is a transclusion of Wikipedia:New articles (Aircraft).
