Subst[edit]

Why this template should always be used with subst: ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2a01:e35:8a8d:fe80:dc2a:4cc2:f69c:9e36 (talk) 15:14, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting issue that's bothering me.[edit]

There is something about this template that is causing the text immediately following it on the same line to end up in a <code>-style box. This happens whether it is transcluded or substituted.

Examples:

{{WikiThanks}} Some text that follows. produces
Thank you Some text that follows.
While {{subst:WikiThanks}} Some text that follows. produces

Thank you

Some text that follows.

This does not seem to happen if a newline (<br />) is inserted immediately after the template. Examples:

{{WikiThanks}}<br/> Some text that follows. produces
Thank you
Some text that follows.
and {{subst:WikiThanks}}<br/> Some text that follows. produces

Thank you
Some text that follows.

I don't know if it's an issue with the template or something else. But it's a minor thing that's seriously bugging me. --talk2Chun(talk) (contributions) 20:43, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the issue has now been fixed. If it is fixed, the following text {{subst:WikiThanks}} Some text that follows. should produce
Thank you Some text that follows. --talk2Chun(talk) (contributions) 14:33, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Talk2chun: Yep, I fixed it with this edit - a simple case of removing a newline that had been incorrectly added by M.O.X (talk · contribs) with this edit in 2010. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:40, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, Redrose64. You've made a WP editor (i.e. me) significantly happier with this fix. --talk2Chun(talk) (contributions) 21:51, 24 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
