The Tongan Royal Guards are a specialized military unit within the His Majesty's Armed Forces of Tonga. Their primary responsibility is to provide security to the King of Tonga, royal palaces, and during official events involving the royal family.

The Tongan Royal Guards operate as a company-sized unit based at the Vilai Barracks in Nuku’alofa, which also serves as the headquarters for the main command elements of the His Majesty's Armed Forces.[1]

Roles and duties

The primary roles and duties of the Tongan Royal Guards is protecting the monarchy. They maintain a musical unit known as the Tonga Royal Corps of Musicians, which performs at various national and royal events.[2]
