Tortula is a genus of mosses in the family Pottiaceae.

Species

[edit]

There are different classifications for the species included in the genus.[1][2][3]

The delimitation of genus Tortula is problematic and was subject to a number of alterations in the past. Some species that were earlier placed under Desmatodon, Phascum and Pottia have been made part of genus Tortula, while other species that had been formerly placed in this genus became part of Hennediella, Microbryum and Syntrichia.[4][5] The rearrangement of the genus followed new studies in gametophyte characteristics.[6][7]
