Gajendra Verma (born 20 April 1990) is an Indian singer, composer, lyricist and sound recordist.[1][2] He came under the spotlight when he claimed that his song, titled "Emptiness", also known as "Tune Mere Jaana", which he had composed seven and a half years before, leaked on the internet with a fake sympathetic story of a dying IIT student named Rohan Rathore.[3][4] The song was viewed over 40 million times on YouTube.[5] His 2018 song, Tera Ghata, has over 450+ million YouTube views.[6][4]

Early life

Gajendra Verma was born on 20 April 1990 in Sirsa, Haryana.[7] He was raised in Jaipur, Rajasthan. His father Surender Verma is a well-known poet and theatre personality.[5] He began performing at the age of four and is largely self-taught on instruments including guitar, harmonium, and keyboard, with formal education in Sound Engineering.[8][9]

His first song "Tune Mere Jaana" was released with support from SONOTEK (Haryana Famous Music Channel).[10]

Gajendra Varma started his career in 2008, with the song, "Tune Mere Jaana" also called 'Emptiness'.[10][1]

2011: Breakthrough with "Emptiness – Tune Mere Jaana"

Gajendra Verma gained fame with his 2011 single "Emptiness – Tune Mere Jaana," which became a viral hit and one of India’s first independent viral successes on YouTube. The song, accompanied by a fictional story, captivated a large audience and marked Verma's entry into the spotlight.[12][13].

2012–2017: Consistent Hits and Collaborations

Following his debut, Verma released several successful tracks including "Phir Suna," "Mann Mera", and "Tera Hi Rahun." He also contributed to Bollywood soundtracks for films such as *Yaariyan* (2014) and *Samrat & Co.* (2014). Following the success of "Tera Ghata," Verma released singles like "Milo Na Tum," "Yaad Karke," and "Ja Ja Ja," reflecting his evolving musical style which now incorporates R&B, funk, and electronic influences. In 2024, he announced his album "Good Vibes Only," featuring a blend of pop, R&B, and synthwave.[18][19].
