Tyrell Harrison (born July 6, 1999) is an Australian-New Zealand professional basketball player who plays as a center for the Brisbane Bullets in the NBL. He represents New Zealand in international basketball competitions.

Early Life

Tyrell Harrison was born on July 6, 1999, in Brisbane, Australia. Although he grew up in Brisbane, Harrison chose to represent New Zealand, his father's homeland, in international basketball and has been a regular member of the Tall Blacks squad.[1]

Professional Career

Brisbane Bullets

Harrison began his professional career with the Brisbane Bullets in the 2017–18 NBL season as a development player. In his first three seasons, he appeared in just 17 games. During the 2019 off-season, he played for the Nelson Giants in the NZ NBL, where he averaged 12.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.[2]

Harrison’s breakout year came in the 2020-21 NBL season when he appeared in all 36 games for the Bullets, averaging 5.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. In the following NBL22 season, he improved further, averaging 6.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.[2]

In NBL24, Harrison solidified his place as a starting center. He played in all but one game, averaging 9.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.[2]

Southern Districts Spartans

In addition to his NBL performances, Harrison competed in the NBL1 North league with the Southern Districts Spartans in 2024. He excelled, averaging 23.6 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game, earning selection to the NBL1 North All-First Team.[2]
