Ukkulankulam Arulmigu Meenatchi Samedha Sundhareswara Swamy Devasthanam, also known as Ukkulankulam Sivan Kovil, is a prominent Hindu Shaivaite temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated in the Ukkulankulam suburb of Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, approximately 3.9 kilometers from the main town of Vavuniya. The temple was originally constructed in the 2000s as a modest hut. However, a significant renovation began in 2018 and was completed in 2020, culminating in a grand consecration ceremony. Today, Ukkulankulam Sivan Kovil is a well-known religious site in the Vavuniya District, second in fame only to the Kovilkulam Sivan Kovil.

Location[edit]
The temple is situated in the center of the Ukkulankulam suburb, 500 meters from the village boundary of Pandarikulam, and is surrounded by Vinayagar, Amman, and Muneeswaran temples.
Significance[edit]
This temple houses the only Panchamukha (5-faced) Lingam found in Sri Lanka. The statue stands approximately 5 1/2 feet tall. The main sanctum sanctorum is designed to be open on all four sides, similar to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in India. Mirrors cover the four sides, allowing devotees to worship from any direction.

Festival[edit]
Every year, the first day of the first Chaturthi of the month of Ani is followed by thirteen days of a decorative festival. During this time, Lord Sundareswarar, accompanied by Goddess Meenakshi, will be taken out in procession at night, first within the inner street and then outside on a vehicle. On the eleventh day of the festival, Thirukalyanam (the divine wedding) is held, and on the twelfth day, the deity is taken on a village procession. On the thirteenth and final day, the festival concludes with the Mouna Utsavam, featuring Vairavar Madai.
The day after completing the 13th day festival at this temple, the 17th day festival at the Muthumari Amman Temple in Pandarikulam will commence with flag hoisting. Subsequently, the festival at Ukkulankulam Sivan Kovil will begin 2–3 days after the conclusion of the festival at Pandarikulam Kulakattu Sri Sithi Vinayagar Temple.
