Moazzam Ali Baig (born 28 April 1985) (Urdu:معظم بیگ) is current captain of Malawi national team.[1] He made his Twenty20 debut for Malawi in Mozambique tour of Malawi 2019/20, both Malawi and Mozambique played their first matches with official T20I status, since the International Cricket Council's decision to grant T20I status to all matches played between men's national teams of Associate Members after 1 January 2019.[2] These were the first men's T20I matches to be played in Malawi. Moaazam call for Malawi sqaud this was first T20I match of Malawi and Moazzam but unfortunately he fail to perform with bat in seven match series but in bowling he gets 11 wicket with best of 4/20 with average 14.54 at second match in Lilongwe[3] Malawi won the 7-match series 5–1 and Moazzam was the second highest wickets taker in this series.[4]

Early life[edit]

Born in 1985, Karachi Pakistan, Moazzam shifted Malawi in 2008, a country in southeast Africa, and started working as a logistic manager with different organisation.[5] but early he started cricktet off from the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy in Karachi and played club cricket from United Gymkhan , Alamgir Cricket Club and Larosh Cricket Club, After playing zonal U-17 and U-19 events,he graduated to senior inter district tournaments in 2005. and joined departmental cricket team of Investigation Police in 2005 and kept on playing various local tournaments too until 2007.
