First translation: Heidelberger Herbst

Translation

For the first time, the shops in the city centre, Bergheim and in other parts of the city will be open on Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 pm as part of the big city festival. There is a wide range of music of different styles at different places in the old town (Marktplatz, Kornmarkt, Karlsplatz, Universitätsplatz, Fischmarkt, Heumarkt, Marstallhof) as well as in Bergheim at the square in front of the Altes Hallenbad.

On the Hauptstraße there is a large handicraft market, where Heidelberg associations present themselves with information offers as well as food stands. The shops on Hauptstraße and in the Markthalle at the Altes Hallenbad not only have extended opening hours, but also, like Heidelberg's restaurants and bars, some special offers on this occasion. A flea market is held between Universitätsplatz and Kornmarkt. Especially for children there is also a flea market in the schoolyard of the Theodor-Heuss-Schule, where children up to the age of 13 can offer their goods. Another flea market as well as a children's paradise can be found on the square or in the Altes Hallenbad in the Bergheim district.

Erstmals haben im Rahmen des großen Stadtfestes die Geschäfte in der Innenstadt, Bergheim und in anderen Stadtteilen am Sonntag von 13 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet. Veranstaltungsbereich Auf den Plätzen der Altstadt (Marktplatz, Kornmarkt, Karlsplatz, Universitätsplatz, Fischmarkt, Heumarkt, Marstallhof) sowie im Stadtteil Bergheim auf dem Platz vor dem Alten Hallenbad existiert ein breites musikalisches Angebot verschiedener Stilrichtungen.

Auf der Hauptstraße gibt es einen großen Kunsthandwerksmarkt, auf dem sich Heidelberger Vereine mit Informationsangeboten sowie Verpflegungsständen präsentieren. Die Geschäfte in der Hauptstraße sowie in der Markthalle im Alten Hallenbad bieten nicht nur verlängerte Öffnungszeiten, sondern ebenso wie die Heidelberger Gastronomiebetriebe einige Angebote speziell zu diesem Anlass. Zwischen Universitätsplatz und Kornmarkt findet während des Heidelberger Herbstes ein Flohmarkt statt. Für Kinder existiert ein eigener Flohmarkt auf dem Schulhof der Theodor-Heuss-Schule, wo Kinder bis 13 Jahren ihre Waren anbieten können. Ein weiterer Flohmarkt sowie ein Kinderparadies findet sich neuerdings auch auf dem Platz vor, bzw. im Alten Hallenbad im Stadtteil Bergheim.[4]

Second translation: Die Känguru Chroniken

Krapotke is a somewhat silly young Bundeswehr soldier who appears for the first time in the second part and later joins the Anti-Social Network. He is often excluded from the rest of the group and not rarely brings the Kangaroo to spectacular outbursts of rage, for example because he thinks the rules for Mau-Mau are too complicated.

God

God is a female member of the Anti-Social Network, which was founded by the Kangaroo. Her true name Maria is first mentioned in the chapter "Swedish Scientists" of the Kangaroo Apocrypha, as well as the fact that she successfully completed her study of arts. However, her code name in the network is often used for a running gag (this is how the characters talk about God, using phrases that can be related to both her and the religious figure). During the plot, the protagonist falls in love with her and is therefore often nervous and stammering in her presence. God herself doesn't seem to have any special interest in him. As mentioned during the plot, God lives in a council flat and has a little son named Jesus with her boyfriend, who owns a mobile phone shop. Another running gag is God's frequent changes of profession, which all show precarious employment ("I collect shitty jobs like other people collect surprise egg figures!").

Krapotke ist ein etwas dümmlicher junger Bundeswehrsoldat, der erstmals im zweiten Teil auftritt und sich später dem „Asozialen Netzwerk“ anschließt. Er wird häufig vom Rest der Gruppe ausgeschlossen und bringt das Känguru nicht selten zu spektakulären Wutausbrüchen, etwa weil ihm die Regeln für Mau-Mau zu kompliziert sind.

Gott

Gott ist ein weibliches Mitglied des vom Känguru gegründeten „Asozialen Netzwerks“. Ihr wahrer Name Maria wird erstmals im Kapitel „Schwedische Wissenschaftler“ der Känguru-Apokryphen erwähnt, ebenso, dass sie das Studium der Geisteswissenschaften erfolgreich absolviert hat. Ihr Codename im Netzwerk wird allerdings des Öfteren für einen Running-Gag verwendet (so reden die Figuren über Gott und nutzen dabei Sätze, die sich sowohl auf sie als auch auf die religiöse Figur beziehen lassen). Der Protagonist verliebt sich während der Handlung in sie und ist in ihrer Gegenwart daher oftmals nervös und stammelt. Gott selbst scheint allerdings kein sonderliches Interesse an ihm zu haben. Wie während der Handlung erwähnt wird, wohnt Gott in einer Sozialwohnung und hat mit ihrem Freund, der einen Handyladen besitzt, einen kleinen Sohn namens Jesus. Ein weiterer Running-Gag sind Gotts häufige Berufswechsel, die allesamt prekäre Arbeitsverhältnisse zeigen („Ich sammele nämlich Scheißjobs wie andere Leute Überraschungsei-Figuren!“)

Jörg und Jörn Dwigs

Jörg and Jörn Dwigs are twin brothers who appear in the Manifesto for the first time. Jörg is an asylum judge, known for his 100% rejection rate. Jörn is a bank director and finances the right-wing populist party "Security and Responsibility" [de: Sicherheit und Verantwortung (SV)], which the two of them have founded. He is also the author of the book "I Am Not a Racist, but". Jörg Dwigs is an allusion to the Austrian right-wing populist Jörg Haider who was chairman of the FPÖ for many years.

Schmidtchen

Schmidtchen is a patrolman who would like to arrest the Kangaroo. Though, he is rhetorically inferior to it and therefore forgets his justified suspicions as soon as he enters the Kangaroo’s apartment and gets involved in a discussion with confusing arguments from the Kangaroo. The character only appears twice in the Chronicles.

The Anti-Social Network

The Anti-Social Network is a “anti-terror organization”, founded by the kangaroo. It is against all “the terror […] that is coming from the media and the government […] and the economy”. The name emerged because, according to the kangoroo, systems that call themselves social are in fact anti-social and therefore a truly social organization must call itself anti-social. Similar to real structures of those organizations, every member or assembly can give itself a meaningless title, there are no hierarchies. The actions conducted by the network, so called anti-terror attacks, can also be named arbitrarily.

Jörg und Jörn Dwigs

Jörg und Jörn Dwigs sind Zwillingsbrüder. Sie treten zuerst im Känguru-Manifest auf. Jörg ist Asylrichter, bekannt geworden durch eine Ablehnungsquote von 100 %. Jörn ist Bankdirektor und finanziert die rechtspopulistische Partei „Sicherheit und Verantwortung“ (SV), die sie selbst gegründet haben. Er hat als Autor das Buch „Ich bin ja kein Rassist, aber“ geschrieben. Jörg Dwigs ist eine Anspielung auf den österreichischen Rechtspopulisten Jörg Haider („Haider heißt jetzt Dwigs, sonst ändert sich nix!“), der langjähriger Vorsitzender der FPÖ war.

Schmidtchen

Schmidtchen ist ein Streifenpolizist, der das Känguru gerne verhaften würde, diesem aber rhetorisch unterlegen ist und deshalb seine berechtigten Verdachtsmomente vergisst, sobald er die Wohnung betritt und sich auf eine Diskussion mit verwirrenden Argumenten des Kängurus einlässt. Er kommt nur in den Chroniken zum Einsatz, und zwar zweimal.

The Anti-Social Network

Das Asoziale Netzwerk ist eine vom Känguru gegründete "Anti-Terror-Organisation". Sie wendet sich gegen "den Terror […] der Medien und der Regierung […] und der Wirtschaft". Der Name entstand, da laut dem Känguru die sich sozial nennenden Systeme in Wirklichkeit asozial seien und deshalb eine soziale Organisation sich asozial nennen müsse. In Anlehnung an reale Strukturen in solchen Organisationen kann sich jedes Mitglied und jede Versammlung einen bedeutungslosen Titel geben, es gibt keine Hierarchien. Auch die vom Netzwerk durchgeführten Aktionen, sogenannte Anti-Terror-Anschläge, können beliebig benannt werden.
