IconNews is a Wikipedia plugin that changes the news significantly.[1]

  • Shows when a redirect is created.

  • Shows when a page is replaced with a redirect to another page.

New visual edit: Example

  • Shows when an edit using visual editing occurs.

New source edit: Example

  • Shows when an edit using source editing occurs.

New revert: Example

  • Shows when a revert occurs.

New visual edit to watched page: Example

  • Shows when an edit to a page you watch occurs. Watched icon () can appear next to any kind of other icon.

Protections[edit]

Pending Changes Protection added: Example

  • Shows when WhiteLock is added to a page.
  • WhiteLock hides unregistered and newcomers' edits from other unregistered and newcomers' edits.
    • WhiteLock can be bypassed using an account that is at least 4 days old.

Semi-Protection added: Example

  • Shows when GrayLock is added to a page.
  • GrayLock prevents unregistered and newcomers from editing the page.
    • GrayLock can be bypassed by using an account that is at least 4 days old.

Extended Protection added: Example

  • Shows when BlueLock is added to a page.
  • BlueLock prevents unregistered, newcomers and new editors from editing the page.
    • BlueLock can be bypassed by using an account that is at least 30 days old and has at least 500 edits.

Full Protection added: Example

  • Shows when YellowLock is added to a page.
  • YellowLock prevents most editors from editing the page.
    • YellowLock can be bypassed by using an account that is an administrator.

Template Protection added: Example

  • Shows when PinkLock is added to a page.
  • PinkLock prevents most editors from editing the page.
    • PinkLock can be bypassed by using an account that is an administrator.

Create Protection added: Example

  • Shows when CyanLock is added to a page.
  • CyanLock prevents the page from being created.
    • CyanLock can be bypassed by having your appeal to create the page be accepted.

Move Protection added: Example

  • Shows when GreenLock is added to a page.
  • GreenLock prevents the page from being moved.

Upload Protection added: Example

  • Shows when PurpleLock is added to a file.
  • PurpleLock prevents new versions of the file from being uploaded.
    • PurpleLock can be bypassed by using an account that is an administrator.

Cascade Protection added: Example

  • Shows when TealLock is added to a page.
  • TealLock prevents the page and all pages the page links to from being edited.
    • TealLock can be bypassed by using an account that is an administrator.

Interface Protection added: Example

  • Shows when RedLock is added to a page.
    • Administrators do not have rights to apply RedLock, so this popup will never happen.
  • RedLock prevents anyone from editing the page.
    • RedLock cannot be bypassed.

Office Protection added: Example

  • Shows when BlackLock is added to a page.
  • BlackLock prevents almost everyone from editing the page.
    • BlackLock can be bypassed using an account that is a MediaWiki staff member.

Pending Changes Protection 2 added: Example

  • Shows when OrangeLock is added to a page.
    • OrangeLock has been removed, so this popup will never happen.
  • OrangeLock hides most editors' edits from other editors.
    • OrangeLock can be bypassed by using an account that is a pending changes reviewer.

News UI[edit]

New edit: Example

  • Shows when an edit to a page occurs due to a Wikidata edit. Wikidata logo () can appear next to any kind of other icon.

New edit: Example

  • Shows when an edit flagged "problematic" by ORES occurs. Issue icon () can appear next to any kind of other icon.

  • Shows when a minor edit occurs. Cleanup icon () can appear next to any kind of other icon.

  • Shows when a bot edits a page. Not A Human icon () can appear next to any kind of other icon.
