Hi, all. I'm a geek with an interest in surreal art, crime films, American literature, British pop culture, social history and global social issues.

I work as an editorial assistant, fact checker, typo slayer and proof-reader for a British film organisation that shall not be named (in case they nose around and find this). Unfortunately, I'm not lucky enough to see popular or national film releases as I'm usually stuck with lesser known South East and East Asian feature films, short films and documentaries that usually bore me to tears. I'm quite talented at finding almost every excuse under the sun to avoid attending film festivals and events. I haven't fibbed about attending a relative's funeral yet, though. That's saved as the last resort.

I must admit that I also use every excuse under the moon possible to avoid visiting our so-called second home: Japan, my least favourite country. I'm the last person you could ask about Tokyo because in spite of our numerous visits, I still don't know the place that well. My only recollections of Tokyo are the blurred scenery of roads, buildings and people - each area of Tokyo we pass through has its own style - between two airports. I'm much more familiar with Yamagata Prefecture, arguably the dullest place on earth. Example, Yamagata is still pimping its only claim to fame: haiku poet Matsuo Bashō once stayed in Yamagata for five months during 17th century.

Meh.

London, on the other hand, I know well. Particularly Hackney borough (Hackney, Homerton, Stoke Newington and Dalston), Finsbury Park, Islington, Highgate and good old West Brompton. London is like Tokyo; it's a collective of villages and towns. Each has a distinctive personality. Flaws and all, I like London. Even though it drives me up a wall sometimes.

As a drunken haiku goes:

Born a Londoner,
lives as a Londoner, and
I shall die as one.

Cheers for now.
