Middle-earth animals

Many thanks for your additions to the Biodiversity section. You've put in quite a few I'd overlooked: quails, black swans, polar bears, tigers, Irish elk, woolly rhinos, and vampire bats.

However others I don't recall in my many years of Tolkien studies: mallard, turkey, pheasant; dire wolf, cougar, smilodon; elk [North American], white-tailed deer, roe-deer, fallow deer, muntjac, mouflon, bighorn sheep, argali, rhinos (other than woolly), brontotherium; chinook salmon, trout (of any type), brown bullhead; centipedes, and the pepper-moth. Even more unexpected (because of my Australian connections) are: Norfolk robin, kookaburra (BTW no Australian ever calls it a laughing kookaburra), and emperor gum-moths! I'm wondering if you can supply citations for these? Regards Jungleboy63 (talk) 08:25, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
