The murder of Elizabeth Tuwilika Ekandjo occuerd in Windhoek,Namibia on June 05, 2012. Ekandjo ,22 year old fourth year Information Technology student, was found dead on June 05 in her room where she was staying with a friend in Khomasdal after she was strangled by her ex-boyfriend with a tie.The Murder took place between the hours of 02h00 and 04h00, when her ex-boyfriend, 27 years old, unidentified male entered the deceased's window and threatened her roommate, who is also student, to hide in a wordrobe before proceeding to strangle Ekandjo. According to to City Police Senior Superintendent, Gerry Shikesho, Ekandjo and her boyfriend were having differences/ and she was trying to end the relationship. He probably didnt want to accept that the relationship was over.

After realizing what he had done, he is said to have updated his Facebook status saying "ONLY GOD KNWS.BYE". He also apparently started sending SMSes to relatives saying that he wanted to commit suicide, because he had just killed his ex-girlfriend. His uncle convinced him not to and told him to meet with him, were he handed him to the police the next afternoon.

Ekandjo was described as a sweet person, who had no problems with no one. In 2010, Ekandjo won best student in her department . Ekandjo was from the northern village of Elim, not far from Oshakati. News of Ekandjo's murder spread like wildfire on Social Networks as students and other people took to the Internet to air their views and concerns about passion killings in the country. Ekandjo"s murder comes shortley after another student of the University of Namibia was stabbed to death by a fellow student.
