Jamalabad Gojal Hunza Pakista From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Geography Jamalabad is a small village of Gojal Valley the upper part of Hunza, located besides the Hunza River, on the Karakorum Highway in the northern part of Pakistan. The village is also nearer to China Border having a distance of almost 90-100 kilometers from Jamalabad to China border, and the village is about 190 kilometers from Gilgit City. Its altitude is about more than 2400 meters above the Arabian Sea level. The village is also surrounded by ice caped mountains of Karakorum Range. Fruits are the best part of this village, which includes Apricot, Apple, Mulberry and Green cherry. Snow leopard and Ibex can be find in this valley in the winter season. Population The major population of village comprises of Wakhi people and population of the village is expected to be 380 to 400. Enough number of families of this village is settled in different cities of Pakistan. Source of Income People of this village along with farming have also other sources of incomes such as some have hotels, restaurants, shops in Sost valley. The Sost village which is popular because of existence of Pak-China dry port, where goods imported from China are transferred to Pakistani trucks and then moved to major cities of Pakistan. While some of the people are working in different cities of Pakistan for the purpose of earning while few persons are working in foreign countries as well. Language and Culture The majority people are Wakhi and Wakhi language is their native one, while some Brushasku people also live in this village who speak Brushaski language. However almost all the people of this village can speak and understand both Wakhi and Brushaski languages. Neighbor Neighbor to Jamalabad is Moorkun Village, Gircha Village and Sost where Pak-China dry port exists. Jamalabad is also nearer to Attabad Lake which formed in January 2010 in result of a natural land slide.
