ABC Color is a major Paraguayan newspaper with offices in the city of Asunción.
The editorial that publishes the newspaper (Azeta) was founded August 8, 1967 by Aldo Zuccolillo. It is one of the most widely read daily newspapers in Paraguay. In its formative years, ABC Color supported Stroessner's autocratic regime. During the founding event of the newspaper, Zuccolillo declared this is "a great newspaper serving a great government".
However, in the late 1970s and during the 1980s, ABC Color took a more critical position, which caused the forced suspension of the newspaper from 1984 until the end of Stroessner's dictatorship, in 1989.

ABC Color was inaugerated on 1967-08-08. It was the first newspaper in Paraguay which began printing in colour. It was the first tabloid, and served the whole country instead of just the capital. [1]
Although initially inclined to the dictator, the newspaper began to take a more anti-dictator lean later. The director of the newspaper, Aldo Zuccoloillio, was taken to prison one day in 1983 for going against the toleration regime. In the next year, on 1994-03-22, the newspaper was suspended indefinitely by the order of Ministerio del Interior. [2]
After the suspension, journalists working for the company were not allowed to work for or start other news outlets. Zuccolo was arrested again on several occasions. Finally, after the fall of the dictatorship, ABC Color was able to restart on 1989-04-24, after what was now 5 years of closure.
Since the company refounded, it created several divisions, such as ABC Sport or Home and Garden and Since 2016, ABC news remains the largest news companies in the country, with 400,000 users and 54,000 newspapers.
On 2018-06-14, Aldo Zuccolillo, the director of the company, died. At the time, he was considered one of the richest and most powerful buisnessman in the country.[3][4][5][6] But now, the director of ABC Color is their is Aldo's daugheter, Natalia Zuccolino .
Controversies[edit]
On 2014-10-16, the journalist Pablo Medina, Correspondent of ABC Color in the northern city of Curuguaty was assasinated with Antonia Almada, their accompanient, in the locality of Villa Ygatimí. Medina conducted research and publications related to drug trafficking in the department of Canindeyú The main suspect of the murder was the former mayor of Ypehú, Vilmar Acosta, linked to drug trafficking in the northern area.
After both murders, the journalists of ABC color protested for 8 days, demanding clarification for the crimes and protection for the journalists in the border zones-
In June of 2016, and after the digitisation of the company, the journalists held a protest for five days campaigning for better pay and treatment for the communicators of the company.
