Amina Bulakh (15 September 2001, Kropyvnytskyi  – 14 November 2019, Tarasivka, Kyiv region) was a Ukrainian champion and medal-winning boxer.

Biography[edit]

Bulakh (sometimes translated as Bulaj, and in Ukrainian, Аміна Булах), was a student at Kropyvnytskyi CYSS No. 1. The tournament held in 2019, featured 269 ​​participants from 24 teams. Bulakh won a gold medal in her weight category of 64 kilograms (141 lb), fulfilling the standard of the master of sports of Ukraine in boxing and was was part of the main Ukrainian youth team. She was also a member of the women's youth team of Ukraine.[1] Ukrainian women’s youth champion.

Bulakh was a national champion having won a silver medalist of the youth international tournament in Szczecin, Poland - 2018,[2] and a bronze medalist of the European Youth Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2019.[3]

She died on 14 November 2019 when she was walking toward her home in the village of Tarasivka outside Kyiv, Ukraine. The tragedy happened at a designated railway crossing but the boxer, who was wearing headphones and looking at her phone did not see or hear the approaching train, a passenger service running from Kyiv to the nearby city of Fastiv. According to witnesses, Bulakh only noticed the oncoming train at the last minute and tried to avoid it but was unable to get out of the way in time.
