Annette Community Recreation Centre[edit]

Annette Community Recreation Centre (ARC) is an aquatic, sport, and camp recreation centre located in Toronto, Ontario. [1] Facilities within the centre include a pool, fitness centre, gymnasium, dance studio, and several multipurpose rooms. City of Toronto Summer Camps and year-round programming are available daily (excluding major holidays). ARC is found on the List of Toronto Recreation Centres and is one of the 152 recreation centres run by Toronto Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Division. The centre is located in the Junction, close to Bloor West village, and is a 20 minute walk to High Park. ARC is attached to Annette Street Public School and across the street from St. Cecelia's Catholic Elementary School.

History[edit]

ARC was built through the Toronto Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Division, a division of the Toronto municipal government responsible for city-owned parks, forests, and recreation centres.[2] The centre was originally part of Annette Street Public School until it was turned into its own centre where it stands today.

Seasonal Programming[edit]

ARC offers recreational programming all year long. Here are a list of programs offered throughout all seasons:

Winter[edit]

Summer half-day and full-day camps are the main programs offered in the summer. These camps include Adventure Camp, Sports Camp, Adventure Juniors, Swim Camp, Sports Camp, Magic Camp, Cooking Camp, Hip-Hop Camp, Volleyball Camp, and Basketball Camp.

FUN Guide[edit]

ARC prepares a seasonal package called the FUN Guide. This guide contains information on programs and services that are available within the centre year-round. Sections within the guide include Arts, Camps, Fitness and Wellness, Adapted/Integrated Services, Leadership, and Jobs.

Memberships[edit]

Year-round memberships to the facility include full access the the fitness centre and swimming pool as well as the following classes:

Cardio and Sculpt, Cardio High/Low, Body Sculpt, Zumba, and Fitness.

Facility Rentals[edit]

ARC offers families, businesses, schools, and small parties to rent out rooms in the facility. The gymnasium on the main floor has a capacity of 120 people, and is available for schools and large parties. The Window Room on the second floor, which has a 35-person capacity is available for small parties or business meetings. The Dance Studio on the second floor has a 30-person capacity and is available for dance practice, dance recitals, and small parties or business meetings. Prices for these room rentals are based on an hourly wage and can be found by calling ARC.[3]
