What Is Encyclopedia?

[edit]

Suppose something like Apocalypse turned all world into ashes. But one small group of kids survived. They don't know anything about past human civilization. They have just one ability to read. And they have just printed volumes of wikipedia.

Now by reading these volumes of wikipedia, these kids should be able to learn knowledge of extinct human civilization. Big-Bang, Evolution, Medical science, physics, engineering, music...

These kids should be able to build homes, roads, all machines from knife to rocket.

If these kids read about companies in wikipedia, in what way it will help to build human civilization? Be it small shop selling toys or big companies building aeroplanes. How to build toy or aeroplane is part of knowledge useful for these kids but description of income, employees etc of that company is useless for these kids.

Why should I descriminate between small companies and big companies? By my above definition of encyclopedia, I will have to tag thousands of articles like Abercrombie & Fitch for deletion. And I am more than sure, administrators will not delete such articles.

I got a deadlock here.

Catch-22...
