Stage Race ... In running, a stage race is usually a multiday event spread over a number of days with clearly defined start and finish points and often with cut-off times. Stage races provide an opportunity to cover longer distances and still provide support and basic amenities on a daily basis. Popular stage races are the Marathon des Sables and the RacingthePlanet 4 Deserts series.
