'And al-Walīd ibn Bakr al-Ghamri said:
I have found an inscription upon the tomb of Kāfūr:
"Look at the countless days, what they have done.
They have extinguished men that were then, yet they vanished not.
Scorned by their contemporaries, in the days of their rule,
yet when the days were over, they mourned them and wept"'
