Digimon World Championship Additions[edit]

Game Play[edit]

Digimon[edit]

For those not familiar with Digimon they can be divided into varying levels/generations of evolution with each subsequent one typically being stronger than the last. The levels are Digi Egg (no battle potential and cannot battle), In-Training 1 (the weakest, cannot battle), In-Training 2 (below average, can battle and so can the rest) Rookie (average), Champion (above average), Ultimate (strong), and Mega (the strongest). Naturally as you train your digimon they will gradually get stronger and once certain requirements are fulfilled they will digivolve to the next level. The specific requirements and training for each digimon to evolve a level all are different and dependent on the type of digimon in question. Generally however these only really become an issue during the progress from Champion to Ultimate or Ultimate to Mega levels as most beggining requirements are fairly easy like waiting until a set amount of time passes or winning in one or more battles with that digimon. However even if you train your digimon they will not digivolve unless you have a high enough rank to be able to catch it if it were wild. For example if you have a rookie level digimon and train it for a long period of time it will still not digivolve into a Champion level unless your rank is high enough and if it isn't it will revert back into a digi egg and you will have to start training it all over again.

Training[edit]

The 2 main ways to train in the game are either through battles and tournaments (combat) or through the pet cages where you raise the digimon in a similar fashion to online or virtual pets.

Matches[edit]

The game features battle tournaments/matches garnered for each specific class or type that are randomly given availability while others come up at regular intervals for the player to participate in them. After a certain amount of time passes in the game those matches will close and be replaced by other matches sometimes having 5 or more possible matches available while at other times having only 1. The 2 main types of matches are title matches and free matches with both being your team of digimon against another team of digimon in a single match showdown. Title matches are battles with a preset map and can involve only rookie level digimon, only champion level, 1 ultimate and 2 champion and many more with countless other combinations and restrictions available in the game. Free matches are battles without any sort of restrictions and can be done at any time they are available with any digimon in any map of your choosing. There are however 2 other special battle or match types which are the Championship and Multi battles. The Championship is the most difficult event in the game and only occurs once every 4 years in game time. It's basically a tournament type battle where you select your chosen digimon and enter the pleminaries, if you win in the prelims then you move onto the main Championship where each battle comes after the next with each win moving you closer and closer to the finals and winning the whole event. Each battle will continue to the next with each winner of each round faces one of the remaining opponents until a winner is decided. Multi battles are matches with friends or random players from across the globe using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to link up. The maximum digimon allowed in battle reguardless of the type at one time being 3 along with the type and level restrictions. Through winning matches you also earn a set amount of money (A.K.A. Bits) which should be visible on the match screen when you are looking for one to apply to or challenge.

Cages[edit]

The pet cages are basically rooms/slots available to you for purchase where you can arange as many cages as you want in whatever way you want so long as it does not go over the maximum amount of space that you are allotted in correspondance to your rank. In addition the better the cage usually means the more space it takes up. Some cages are meant for increasing specific stats lik ATK, DEF, etc... while opthers are meant for recovery of health after a battle. Their are many variations to choose from.

Ranks[edit]

The ranks are your basic numbers starting from 1 and going up. These corespond to the colour or match type that you will be able to choose to participate in. If you are at least of that corresponding rank to the coloured match then you can participate in it. From lowest to highest Green (rank 1), Blue (rank 3), Red (Rank 7), White, Bronze, Silver, Gold (rank 9), Platinum, Champion, and Master. Champion is earned by beating the Championships/tournaments and Master is earned by beating all the Title Matches. You increase your rank by participating in rank matches.
