What I do here

[edit]

As someone with 25 years of first-hand experience of SCDS and a 2-decade long search behind me before I found relevant information leading to a resolution, I endeavor to make that information more accessible to others by monitoring and improving the pages on:

I am neither a medical practitioner nor a medical student. The offered content is a result of my own struggle with the disease, plus information gathered during various treatments, from:

  • Dr. Lloyd B. Minor, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA
  • Dr. John Carey, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA
  • Prof. Thomas Brandt, Ludwig-Maximilian-University Clinic, Grosshadern, Munich, Germany
  • Prof. Marianne Dieterich, Ludwig-Maximilian-University Clinic, Grosshadern, Munich, Germany
  • Prof. Wolfgang Fries, Ludwig-Maximilian-University Clinic, Grosshadern, Munich, Germany
  • Prof. Hans Scherer, Charité - University Medicine, Berlin, Germany

and from my almost daily contact with fellow SCDS sufferers via the Internet at SCDSsupport, by phone and, in some cases, in person.

I am the professional French horn player mentioned in the article "Otolith Function in Man" (Brain, Vol. 112, No. 5, 1377-1392, 1989) and the subject of the ABC - Medical Mysteries 9-minute Documentary on SCDS The Musician Who Heard Too Much and the ABC News - Health - Article on SCDS Ear-Induced Torture: Maddening Noise, Everywhere

Comments, suggestions and enquiries will always be welcome. Adrianocorno (talk) 13:23, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
