Edna Rae (12 November 1905 - 24 January 1983) was a Scottish painter and wood engraver.[1]

Life

Her father was Robert Waddell Rae (13 January 1877 - 29 September 1949), a Justice of the Peace. He was born in the Gorbals and died in Glasgow.[2] Her mother was Eliza May Geddie (26 March 1871 - 6 February 1946). She was born in Collessie, Fife and died in Glasgow. They married in 1903 in Dennistoun, Glasgow.

Edna Maude Winifred Rae was born on 12 November 1905. She went to the Glasgow High School for Girls.[3] Her brother Robert Rae was born in 1912.

In 1933 she was staying at 93 St. Andrews Drive in Glasgow.[4]

Her husband was William Pollock Findlay (14 November 1911 - 14 August 1983).[5] They married in 1935 in Pollok.

Art

She went to the Glasgow School of Art. She was a prizewinner in 1933 exhibiting a woodcut.[6]

In 1933 she exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy her work: Harbour Scene.[7]

Death

She died at the age of 77 on 24 January 1983 in the Victoria Infimary in Glasgow, after a short illness.[8]
