Henry James Stuart Brown (1 March 1871 - 1 April 1941) was a Scottish painter.[1] He was also the Chairman of the Acme Tea Chest Company.

Life[edit]

His father was Peter Stuart Brown (c. 1843 - 3 August 1916), a chemist from Aboyne in Aberdeenshire. Later in life he manufactured steel tea chests.

His mother was Elizabeth Chapman (c. 1853 - 11 April 1927). Peter and Elizabeth married on 19 January 1870 in Bathgate. They had 4 sons.

Henry James Stuart Brown was born on 1 March 1871 in Bathgate, West Lothian.

He became a Chairman of directors of the Acme Tea Chest Company in Glasgow.[2]

Art[edit]

He became Vice President of the Glasgow Art Club.[3]

Death[edit]

He died on 1 April 1941 at Cathlaw, near Torphichen, to the north of Bathgate. His usual address was given as 204 Polmadie Road, Glasgow, but this was the site of the Acme Tea Chest Works.[4][5]
