John Glass (5 May 1820 - 12 September 1885) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life[edit]

His father was William Glass (16 May 1792 - 11 November 1860), an upholsterer from Larbert.

His mother was Sarah Muir (1803 - 1851) from Edinburgh. William and Sarah married on 21 October 1817 in Edinburgh.

John Glass was born on 5 May 1820 in Edinburgh.

Death[edit]

He died on 12 September 1885 in Edinburgh at 6 Orchardfield Place, Edinburgh.[3]

His brother Thomas Lowe Glass had died on 6 November 1883, and his widow Catherine Fontaine Chamberlain (c.1836 - 9 November 1929) then moved in with him. Catherine became the executor of John's estate.

The value of his estate was £368, 8 shillings and 6 pence.
