William Glover (4 November 1836 - 23 August 1916) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life[edit]

His father was Edmund Glover (22 August 1811 – 14 October 1860), the Glasgow theatre owner, actor and artist, born in London and settled in Scotland.

His mother was Elizabeth Nelson (6 August 1809 - 9 May 1895) from Lisbon in Portugal. Edmund and Elizabeth married in London on 3 September 1833.

William Glover was born on 4 November 1836 in London, England. William moved north to Scotland with his parents in infancy. From 1840 onwards his brothers and sisters were born in Scotland, and William was brought up in Scotland.

He had three marriages throughout his life.

He died on 23 August 1916 in Hill Street, Glasgow.
